Workstation setup, development tools, and design software I use every day.

People ask me what tools I use to build software, stay productive, and do my best work. Here’s a list of the hardware, development tools, and design software I rely on every day.

Workstation

  • 16” MacBook Pro, M2 Max, 32GB RAM (2023)

I was using an Intel-based 16” MacBook Pro prior to this and the difference is night and day. I’ve never heard the fans turn on a single time, even under the incredibly heavy loads I put it through with our various launch simulations.

  • LG Displays – 31.5”

I use two 31.5-inch LG displays side by side. They give me plenty of screen space for design, development, and multitasking — especially when working on multiple projects.

  • Herman Miller Aeron Chair

If I’m going to slouch in the worst ergonomic position imaginable all day, I might as well do it in an expensive chair.

Development tools

  • PhpStorm

Great for backend development. It handles large codebases and complex projects with ease — my go-to for PHP and full-stack work.

  • WebStorm

Great for frontend development. It works seamlessly with React, Vue, and Angular, and helps me stay productive without getting in the way.

Design

  • Figma

We started using Figma as just a design tool but now it’s become our virtual whiteboard for the entire company. Never would have expected the collaboration features to be the real hook.
